Chiniguchi Area/Sudbury Forest A massive 48 km2 clearcut, the biggest in the Temagami area in quite some time, threatens two lengthy portages in Marconi Township. This region lies south of Solace Provincial Park, between the Sturgeon and Wanapitei Rivers. An important old growth white pine forest is located on the western shore of Little Laundrie Lake, and is informally protected within the clearcut. Old growth red pine stands along the east shore of Shee-shaw-gee (Big Marconi) Lake, and a heronry is perched atop an island in the middle of the lake. These portages are recognized by the MNR as Cultural Heritage Trails. Route #3 - Sturgeon River to Little Laundrie Lake - Disclaimer and Map
