Elk Lake Area/Temiskaming Froest

A massive 40 km2 clearcut, engulfing nearly all of Leo Township and much of Van Nostrand Township, surrounds Lady Sydney Lake immediately north of Lady Evelyn Lake and east of Maple Mountain. It will be clearly visible from the Maple Mountain fire tower. Four portages between Lady Evelyn, Slade, and Lady Sydney Lakes are slated for logging. Our advocacy efforts will focus on both mitigating the visual impact of the logging, as well as protecting the portages.
