An impromptu clean up at Ranger Point on Obabika Lake, May 24 weekend has been rewarded with the Best Unplanned Cleanup Award.
Bob Olajos, Ed MacPherson , Kim Cowan, Alex Mathias and Dave Gillen removed the mother lode of garbage left from the days when the Forest Rangers used to live on the point. The Rangers manned the fire watch tower that used to stand on the high hill behind Ranger Point, dating back to 1930 to the early 1950’s. The foundation for the cabin has mostly disappeared, but the garbage they left behind was left there rusting away while the old glass bottles would have been there until eternity.
FOT thanks www.wildernesscleanup.com and all its volunteers that made this year another successful event.
