Conor Mihell is an award-winning magazine journalist, canoe and sea kayak guide and outdoor educator based in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. For the past three summers, Mihell and his wife, Kim, have ventured into the little-known wilderness of northern Quebec on 30 to 40-day canoe trips. Turns out this rugged landscape beyond grasp of Hydro-Quebec has a Temagami connection: For decades, Ungava’s labyrinthine lakes and wild rivers have been the ultimate proving ground for venerable Camp Keewaydin. In his presentation, Mihell explores the meaning of free-flowing rivers and long-distance wilderness journeys in the 21st century, and shares his admiration for the generations of Keewaydin youth who have humbly explored this challenging country.
